Aston Martin was named after a hill climb event in England when Lionel Martin won the prestigious Aston Clinton Hill Climb race in their latest car. Racing was always used as the test bed for their cars and included winning Le Man in 1959. The car that really established Aston Martin however was the DB5 in 1963, the car which won world-wide respect. Fame had confirmed Aston Martin as one of the greatest brands and yet still quintessentially British styling.
